SEQDGA Junior Squad

SEQDGA Junior Squad

Sunday 8th of March saw the beginning of the SEQDGA Junior Elite Squad begin its journey to better golf.

It was great to see the excited faces of the students as they started the program and met the PGA coaches.

They will undergo a series of bench marking and skills tests to identify their strengths and weaknesses and continue next week or their improvement journey.

Following the back-to-back weeks, they will then visit with the coaches for the program each month.  After week 2 the students will also commence a journey with renowned mental coach Jamie Glazier with a series of webinars and access to the Mental Mastery online course.

We look forward to watching the journey of these 5 selected students over the next 6 months.

Hills Golf Course to Close

Hills Golf Course to Close

The district received some sad news today.  The longest Golf Course in the southern hemisphere is ceasing to operate after April 10th, 2022.
The loss of the Hills Golf Course to developers will put a hole in the district’s eligible host venues for events and yearly pennant competitions and leave many golfers temporarily without a club to call home.
The professionalism and hospitality at Hills Golf Club were always first-class and something many looked forward to when playing as a member or visiting the club.
The Hills Golf Club has been part of the SEQDGA for decades and has been a regular host venue in the rotation of the SEQDGA’s yearly event schedule.
Hills closure is a loss of a great Golf course and a fantastic management family.
We wish Rob Mac and his staff all the best for the future. We also wish all the members the best of luck with finding their next home club and hope they continue playing golf somewhere in the SEQDGA district.

Jay Simpson has taken the Tournament Director Role in the absence of Peter Johnstone, who we hope to see back on deck soon.

Over the 5 event series, players will be spread as evenly as possible for late and early tee times to maximise fairness.

Please ensure you are at the course at least 20 mins prior to play and remember all players are required to have a caddy.

Good Luck on Sunday

Captain’s Update

Captain’s Update

From the Captain

Players, managers, and Clubs,

Welcome to the new improved SEQDGA website, if I can navigate through this website you don’t need your 15-year-old to help. Big thanks to Peter Shaw for all his patience and hard work.
While you’re here, please take a min to explore the Seqdga website. If you have any Qs don’t hesitate to ask anyone else but me. LOL 🤔
2022 Pennants Season.
Before the start of the season we had some minor draw/schedule issues, to the captains involved credit, they overcame the issues and soldiered on, we will endeavor to streamline next year, and I apologize for any inconvenience.
Team lists for matches
Captains this year Seqdga made it very clear that there will be no leeway for not entering your team before 8 pm Friday preceding the match.
Unfortunately, two teams were stung with penalties in the first week of Pennants.
This is just a friendly reminder, to be eligible to play Seqdga Pennants, the player must hold a category of membership that entitles the player to weekend playing rights at their club.
This is the case for all Divisions.
With the COVID pandemic still invading our society, please be aware of and adhere to the host Clubs’ rules for dealing with covid and as Captains please make sure your players practice good covid etiquette.
If at any stage during the Pennant season you have an outbreak of covid through your team please contact me or Simon and together we will deal with the situation.

2022 SEQDGA Pennants Wrap

2022 SEQDGA Pennants Wrap

This weekend saw an exciting start to the SEQDGA Pennant Season. In Division 1, Defending champs Windaroo came up trumps over Beaudesert, 2021 R/U Hills, beat Meadowbrook, and on the other side of the division Redland Bay were resounding winners over the returning Mt Warren lineup featuring past district Champions and Gainsborough got the chocolates over Carbrook at Carbrook. Division 2 saw the 2021 finalists, Windaroo & Redland Bay, go head to head at Windaroo – again a tight contest ensued with the points being shared, the return fixture at Redland Bay will be one to watch. In other notable matches, Mt Warren were resounding victors at home against a lackluster Hills side 6-0, Kooralbyn got the chocolates away against Redland Bay in Pool 3 4-2. In Divison 3 Bay Islands and Windaroo in pool 3 had strong wins at home. In Pool 2 tight fixtures were played out with Redland Bay & Windaroo sharing the points and Gainsborough and Bay Island sharing the spoils. In Pool One Windaroo edged out Hills at home and Mt Warren accounted for Meadowbrook 4.5-1.5. Just a reminder to Captains have your teams in on time, otherwise, you will be facing the unfortunate penalty like 2 sides this weekend just gone faced………….starting from the 2nd hole with all matches 1Down. If you had issues this week please DO NOT leave it until Friday to resolve. Have a good week and good luck to all teams this weekend
